The Effectiveness of the Treatment Group Based on the Training of DSM- 5 Personality Types on Reducing Marital Conflicts

Introduction Marital conflicts are a common problem among young couples. Every year, many visits to psychological centers are due to marital conflicts. Lack of knowledge of communication skills, affectionate styles, insufficient knowledge of the spousechr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s personality traits are among the factors that cause conflicts. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the treatment group based on the training of PDM personality types on reducing marital conflicts. method This was a quasi-experimental study and its design was a pre-test, post-test without a control group. The statistical population was 16 couples who referred to the medical groupchr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s announcement in the fall of 2009 to reduce marital conflicts. The participants were from the upper social and economic classes of the society and their level of education was expert and higher. Initially, the couples responded to the test of dual marital conflicts. Then, they underwent 8 sessions of personality type sessions, each session lasting 1 hour. The members were evaluated before and after the training with the Sanaei Marital Conflict Questionnaire (1996). Data were analyzed using SPSS-20 software and dependent t-test. results The results showed that group training of personality types was effective in reducing marital conflicts. There is a significant difference between the mean of pre-test data and post-test data {t (13) = 4.71, P <0001, so that the overall average of marital conflicts of members significantly after the treatment group is less than the average of their conflicts before It was group therapy. There is a significant difference in all subscales of marital conflict after group training} {P <0.05, with the exception of the subscales of child support and increased relationship with relatives. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that increasing the couplechr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s awareness of each otherchr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s personality type and recognizing their strengths and weaknesses can be an effective step in reducing marital conflicts. Also, the couplechr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s desire increased after learning about cognitive types to follow individual therapy sessions and resolve intra-psychological conflicts.
